Toolstia / overtime pay calculator

Overtime pay calculator

Enter your hourly pay and the hours you worked to see regular pay, overtime pay and your total for the week. You can change the threshold and the multiplier.

Overtime rules depend on your country, contract and job. Many places count overtime after 40 hours a week, some count it by the day, and some pay a higher rate for nights or holidays. Check your own agreement.

How it works

  1. Enter your hourly pay and hours worked.
  2. Set when overtime starts and the multiplier.
  3. Read the regular, overtime and total pay.

How overtime pay works

Hours up to the threshold are paid at your normal rate. Hours above it are paid at the rate multiplied by the overtime multiplier.

Time and a half

A multiplier of 1.5 is called time and a half. Double time uses 2.

Average hourly pay

The average shows your total pay divided by all hours, which is useful for comparing jobs.

Check your rules

Overtime law and contracts differ by country, state and job, so use your own rules for the threshold and multiplier.
