Salary increase calculator
Offered a raise, or want to ask for one? Enter your current salary and either the percentage raise or the new salary. You get the new pay, the increase, the percentage and the extra per month.
Enter your current salary and the raise.
Works for any pay period. Enter a yearly salary to see the monthly difference, or a monthly one to see the monthly change directly (ignore the last box).
How it works
- Enter your current salary.
- Choose whether you know the raise percentage or the new salary.
- Read the new salary, the increase and the percentage.
Percentage to amount
New salary equals current salary times 1 plus the raise divided by 100. A 5% raise on 40,000 gives 42,000.
Amount to percentage
Raise percentage equals the increase divided by the current salary, times 100. Going from 50,000 to 53,000 is a 6% raise.
Negative raises
Enter a negative percentage to see a pay cut. The tool shows the new salary and the amount lost.
Real value
A raise smaller than inflation is a cut in what your pay can buy. Compare the percentage with the recent rise in prices where you live.
