Hourly to salary calculator

Comparing a job paid by the hour with one paid a salary is hard without the sums. Enter your hourly pay, your weekly hours and the paid weeks in a year to see your pay by day, week, fortnight, month and year. You can also work backwards from a salary.

Enter your pay to see the other ways of stating it.

These are amounts before tax. Use 52 weeks if you are paid for holidays and fewer if you are not. Overtime and bonuses are not included.

How it works

  1. Choose hourly to salary or salary to hourly.
  2. Enter the pay, hours per week and paid weeks per year.
  3. Read the table.

The sums

Yearly pay equals hourly pay times hours per week times paid weeks. Monthly pay is the yearly figure divided by 12. A fortnight is two weeks of pay.

Paid weeks

Use 52 if you are paid for holidays and leave. If you take unpaid time, use fewer weeks, such as 48, for a more honest figure.

From salary to hourly

Divide the yearly salary by hours per week times weeks per year. A 52,000 salary on 40 hours for 52 weeks is 25 per hour.

Before tax

All figures are gross. Tax, pension and other deductions are not included, and overtime or bonuses are not counted.

Questions

What if I work part time?

Change the hours per week to your real hours.

Why is a month not 4 weeks?

A year has 52 weeks, so a month averages 4.33 weeks. Dividing the year by 12 is more accurate.

Is anything uploaded?

No. Your pay stays in your browser and is never sent anywhere.
