Toolstia / URL parser

URL parser

Paste a web address and see its pieces laid out: protocol, username and password, hostname, port, origin, path, query string and fragment. Query parameters are listed one by one with their decoded values.

How it works

  1. Paste a URL.
  2. Read each part in the table.
  3. Check the decoded query parameters.

Parts of a URL

A web address is built from a protocol (https:), a host (example.com), an optional port, a path (/a/b), a query string (?x=1) and a fragment (#top).

Query parameters

Each key and value is decoded, so %20 and + show as spaces. Repeated keys are all listed.

No protocol

If you leave off https:// the tool assumes it and tells you.

Developer tip

Use it to inspect tracking links, redirect URLs and API calls. To encode or decode a single value, use the URL encoder and decoder.

Questions

What is the origin?

The protocol, host and port together, such as https://example.com:8080.

Is the URL visited?

No. It is only parsed in your browser and never opened.

Is anything uploaded?

No. Everything is done in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.
