Toolstia / palindrome checker
Palindrome checker
Type a word, a sentence or a number to see whether it is a palindrome. By default case, spaces and punctuation are ignored, so “A man, a plan, a canal: Panama” counts. Turn those options off for a strict check.
How it works
- Type or paste your text.
- Choose whether to ignore case and punctuation.
- Read the result and compare the cleaned and reversed text.
What a palindrome is
A palindrome reads the same in both directions, such as “racecar”, “level” or the number 12321.
Phrase palindromes
Famous phrases only work when spaces and punctuation are ignored. The tool shows the cleaned text so you can see exactly what was compared.
Strict mode
Untick the options to compare exactly as typed, so “Racecar” is no longer a palindrome because R and r differ.
Languages
Accented letters and other alphabets are compared letter by letter.
