Toolstia / anagram checker
Anagram checker
Enter two words or phrases and find out whether one can be rearranged into the other using exactly the same letters. If not, the tool shows which letters are extra or missing.
Spaces, punctuation and symbols are ignored, so phrases such as “Dormitory” and “Dirty room” match.
How it works
- Enter the first word or phrase.
- Enter the second.
- Read the result and the letter differences.
Definition
Two texts are anagrams if they contain exactly the same letters the same number of times, in a different order. “Listen” and “Silent” are anagrams.
Phrases
Spaces and punctuation are ignored, so “Dormitory” and “Dirty room” match.
When they do not match
The tool lists the letters that appear only in the first text and only in the second text, which makes it easy to fix a puzzle.
Case
Case is ignored by default and can be switched off.
