Markdown table generator
Paste rows copied from a spreadsheet or a CSV and get a Markdown table that is ready for GitHub, documentation or notes. Choose the alignment and let the tool line up the columns.
How it works
- Paste your rows.
- Choose the separator, alignment and header option.
- Copy the Markdown table.
Input formats
Rows copied from Excel or Google Sheets are separated by tabs. CSV uses commas, and some files use semicolons or pipes. The tool can detect the separator for you.
Alignment
Left, centre or right alignment is set in the divider row with colons. Right alignment suits numbers.
Tidy columns
Line up the columns to make the table easy to read as plain text. Switch it off for the shortest possible table.
Special characters
A pipe character inside a cell is escaped so it does not break the table.
Questions
Does it handle quoted CSV?
It splits on the separator without handling quotes, so a comma inside quotes will split. Use tabs or semicolons for such data.
What if rows have different lengths?
Short rows are filled with empty cells.
Is my data uploaded?
Everything happens in your browser, and nothing you type is sent anywhere.
