Convert Bijoy text to Unicode Bangla
Old Bangla documents are often typed in Bijoy, where the text only looks right in a font such as SutonnyMJ. Paste that text here and get ordinary Unicode Bangla that shows correctly everywhere. Everything is done in your browser.
This works for text typed in Bijoy (SutonnyMJ and similar). English letters in the input are treated as Bijoy keys too, so convert Bangla parts only.
How it works
- Paste your Bijoy text into the left box.
- The Unicode Bangla appears on the right straight away.
- Copy the result.
Why Bijoy text looks strange
Bijoy stores Bangla letters as Latin letters and symbols, and a special font draws them as Bangla. Without that font, a word such as evsjv‡`k shows as odd symbols. Unicode stores the real Bangla letters, so any device can show them.
Reordering vowel signs
In Bijoy, signs such as the i-kar and e-kar are typed before the letter, and the reph (র্) is typed after it. Unicode keeps them in reading order. The converter moves them to the right place and joins letters with the correct hasanta.
What to convert
Convert text that was typed in Bijoy only. English words in the same paragraph are also read as Bijoy keys, so convert the Bangla parts and leave the English ones out.
Check the result
Rare joined letters and old special characters may need a quick look. Read through important documents once before you use them.
