Convert WebP to JPG

Saved a picture from the web and found it is a WebP file that will not open or upload? Drop it here and get a normal JPG. Your files stay on your device.

Drop images here, or click to choose

WebP images, up to 30 at a time. Nothing is uploaded.

The converted file is rebuilt from the pixels, so photo metadata such as GPS is not carried over.

How it works

  1. Drop in your images, up to 30 at a time.
  2. Check that JPG is selected under "Convert to" and adjust the quality if you like.
  3. Download each converted file.

Why WebP files cause trouble

WebP is a modern image format used by many websites because it is small. Some older programs, forms and social sites still do not accept it, and JPG is the safe choice.

Quality

The default JPG quality of 92 keeps the picture very close to the WebP. Because both formats lose a little detail, convert once from the original WebP rather than from copies of copies.

Transparency

If the WebP has see-through areas, they are filled with the background colour you pick, white by default, because JPG cannot be transparent.

Animated WebP

Only the first frame of an animated WebP is converted, because JPG cannot hold animation.

Questions

Is it free?

Yes, with no sign-up and no watermark.

Is my file uploaded?

No. It is converted in your browser.

Why does the file get bigger?

WebP is usually smaller than JPG at the same quality, so a JPG copy is often a little larger.

What if my browser cannot open the WebP?

All current browsers can. If an image fails, the page tells you.
