The sums
Tip = bill x tip% / 100. Total = bill + tip. Each person pays the total divided by the number of people.
Rounding up
With rounding on, each share goes up to the next whole number, which is easier to pay in cash. The extra from rounding is shown, and it is usually a bit more tip for the server.
How much to tip
Customs differ widely. In some countries a tip is expected, in others a service charge is already included or tipping is not common. Check the bill and local custom.
Service charge
Many restaurants add a service charge to the bill. If one is included, you may not need to tip as well.
