Limits are the numbers published by each platform when we last checked. Platforms change them, and some accounts get higher limits.

How it works

  1. Paste or type your text.
  2. Watch the bars. Green means it fits, red means it is too long.
  3. Trim the text until the platform you need is in the green.

How X counts

X counts every link as 23 characters whatever its real length, and counts emoji and Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters as 2. This tool applies those rules for the X row. All other rows count each character once.

Limits change

These numbers are the limits published by each platform when we last checked. Platforms change them, and paid or verified accounts can get higher limits, for example on X.

Titles and descriptions for Google

The Google title and meta description rows are rules of thumb, about 60 and 160 characters. Google actually cuts text by its width on screen, so a title of narrow letters may fit more.

Emoji and hidden characters

An emoji counts as one character in most rows, even if it is built from several code points. Hidden characters that appear when you copy from some AI tools are counted too, which can explain a count that looks too high. The AI text cleaner can remove them.
