Toolstia / Secret Santa generator
Secret Santa name generator
Enter everyone who is joining and press Draw. The tool matches each person with someone to give a gift to, and nobody is matched with themselves. You can add pairs who should not be matched, such as partners who already shop together.
How it works
- Type the names, one per line.
- Optionally add pairs who should not be matched, like Ben - Chitra.
- Press Draw names and share each person's line privately.
How the draw works
The names are shuffled until every person has a different person to give to, everyone receives exactly one gift, and no do-not-match rule is broken. Each valid arrangement is equally likely.
Do-not-match pairs
Write a pair as "Ben - Chitra". The two will not be matched either way round. If the rules make a draw impossible, for instance with only two people who are excluded, the tool tells you.
Keeping it secret
The organizer can see the whole list on screen. To keep it a surprise, send each person only their own line, or let someone who is not playing run the draw.
Gift ideas and budgets
Agree on a spending limit beforehand. Re-run the draw if you made a mistake with a name.
Questions
How many people do I need?
At least two. With three or more, everyone gives to a different person and no two people simply swap unless that is the only option.
Are the names stored?
No. They exist only on this page and disappear when you close it.
Can the same result come twice?
Yes, by chance. Each draw is independent.
Does it email people?
No. Nothing is sent from this tool.
