Toolstia / Reduce image size in KB
Reduce image size to a set number of KB
Many websites tell you to upload an image under a certain size, such as 100 KB. Enter your limit, drop in your photo, and this tool finds the best quality that fits under it. Nothing is uploaded: it all happens in your browser.
Drop images here, or click to choose
JPG, PNG or WebP. Up to 20 images. Nothing is uploaded.
The tool keeps the quality as high as it can while staying under your limit, and only makes the picture smaller if it has to. Transparent areas become white. Photo data such as GPS is not kept.
How it works
- Choose the largest size you are allowed (the buttons set common limits).
- Drop in your images. They are compressed one by one.
- Check the new size on each result and download it.
How it hits your target
The tool tries different quality levels and keeps the highest one that still fits under your limit. If even the lowest quality is too large, it makes the picture a little smaller and tries again. You see the final pixel size on every result.
JPG or WebP
JPG works everywhere and is the safe choice for forms. WebP is smaller at the same quality, but some websites do not accept it. PNG pictures are converted, and transparent areas become white.
When the result looks soft
A very small limit on a large photo forces heavy compression. If the picture looks too rough, ask whether you can use a larger limit, or crop the photo to the important part first with the image cropper.
Privacy
The compressed copy is a new image without the original photo data, so GPS location and camera details are not carried over.
Questions
Is my image uploaded?
No. It is processed inside your browser and never sent to a server.
Can I compress many images at once?
Yes, up to 20. All of them use the same size limit.
Why is the result a little under my limit and not exact?
File sizes do not change smoothly with quality, so the tool picks the largest size that stays at or below your limit.
Can it make a file bigger?
No. This tool only reduces size. If your photo is already small, it stays small.
