Generate lorem ipsum placeholder text
Fill a design or a page with placeholder text. Choose paragraphs, sentences or words, and copy the result. The text is made in your browser.
How it works
- Enter how many and choose paragraphs, sentences or words.
- Choose whether to start with the classic first line.
- Copy the text, or generate it again for a different version.
What lorem ipsum is
Lorem ipsum is scrambled Latin used as stand-in text so people judge a layout instead of reading the words. It has been used in print and web design for a long time.
The classic opening
With the option on, the first sentence starts "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet", as most designers expect. Turn it off for fully random text.
Limits
You can create up to 200 paragraphs, sentences or words at a time.
Before you publish
Replace placeholder text before a page goes live. Search engines and visitors can see it.
Questions
Is the text different each time?
Yes. It is shuffled from a standard word list every time you generate it.
Is it real Latin?
The words come from a passage of Latin, but the sentences are random and have no meaning.
Can I get text in another language?
Not yet. This tool makes the classic Latin placeholder only.
