List randomizer

Paste a list with one item per line and shuffle it into a random order, or pick a set number of random winners. Duplicates can be removed first. Every order is equally likely.

0 items

Uses a fair shuffle (Fisher-Yates) driven by your browser’s secure random generator, so every order is equally likely.

How it works

  1. Paste your list, one item per line.
  2. Choose to shuffle all, or enter how many to pick.
  3. Press the button and copy the result.

Fair shuffle

The tool uses the Fisher-Yates shuffle with random numbers from your browser’s secure generator and avoids modulo bias, so no position is favoured.

Picking winners

Enter a number to pick that many items in random order. Nobody is picked twice.

Uses

Draw giveaway winners, set a speaking order, split a class into random order or choose who goes first.

Reshuffle

Press the button again to get a new random order.

Questions

Can the same item be picked twice?

No, unless it appears twice in your list. Use Remove duplicates to avoid that.

Is it really random?

It uses the browser’s cryptographically secure random generator.

Is anything uploaded?

No. Everything is done in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.
