Toolstia / Instagram photo metadata remover

Remove photo metadata before posting on Instagram

Photos from your phone, camera or an AI image tool can carry hidden file data: location (GPS), device details, editing software and, for some AI tools, content credentials. This page shows what is inside a photo and gives you a clean copy to upload.

It runs in your browser, so the photo never leaves your device.

Drop photos here, or click to choose

JPG, PNG, WebP (AVIF and HEIC if your browser can open them). Up to 30 files, 15 MB each. Nothing is uploaded.

Cleaning rebuilds the picture without its file data. It does not change the pixels, so invisible pixel-level watermarks are not affected.

How it works

  1. Drop your photos into the box (JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 30 files, 15 MB each).
  2. Read the report of what is hidden in each file.
  3. Download the cleaned copy and use that file for your post.

What Instagram does with your file

Instagram generally does not show other people the location stored in your photo. But you are still handing the original file to the platform, so if you prefer not to, clean it first.

AI info labels

Meta says it looks for industry-standard signals such as C2PA content credentials and IPTC metadata to detect AI images and add an "AI info" label. If a label was triggered by those tags, a cleaned copy will not carry them. Meta can use other signals as well, so no tool can promise that a label will not appear.

Posting honestly

Meta asks people to disclose realistic AI-generated content, and a clean file does not change that duty. Remove metadata only from images you have the right to edit.

Quality

The clean copy is rebuilt from the same pixels, and JPEG is saved at high quality. Keep your original for printing.

Questions

Does Instagram remove my location automatically?

It generally does not show the stored location to other users, but the original upload still reaches the platform. Cleaning first means it never receives that data.

Will this stop the "AI info" label?

Only when the label was caused by metadata in the file. Instagram may also use other signals, so there is no guarantee.

Is my photo uploaded to Toolstia?

No. Everything happens in your browser tab.

Which file types work?

JPG, PNG and WebP. HEIC and AVIF work if your browser can open them.
