Toolstia / HEIC to JPG converter
Convert HEIC photos to JPG or PNG
iPhones save photos as HEIC by default. Many websites, Windows apps and older devices cannot open them. This tool turns HEIC and HEIF photos into ordinary JPG or PNG files.
The conversion happens on your device. Your photos are never uploaded.
Drop HEIC photos here, or click to choose
Up to 30 files, 40 MB each. Converted on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
The converted file is a new picture without the original photo data, so location (GPS) is not carried over.
How it works
- Choose JPG or PNG, and a quality level if you picked JPG.
- Drop up to 30 HEIC or HEIF photos into the box.
- Download each converted file when it is ready.
JPG or PNG?
JPG makes much smaller files and is the right choice for sharing and uploading. PNG is lossless, but a photo saved as PNG is often several times bigger.
What happens to the location data
The converted file is a fresh picture, so GPS and camera details from the HEIC file are not copied into it. If you also want a report of what the original contained, use the photo metadata checker.
Why HEIC at all?
HEIC stores a photo at similar quality in roughly half the space of JPG, which is why phones use it. The trade-off is compatibility.
Limits
Very large or unusual HEIC files, such as some burst, depth or Live Photo variants, may fail to convert. The tool processes one file at a time so a phone does not run out of memory.
Questions
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The converter runs in your browser tab. You can switch off your internet connection after the page loads and it still works.
Is there a file limit?
Up to 30 files at a time, 40 MB each.
Can I stop my iPhone saving HEIC?
Yes. In the iPhone Settings, open Camera, then Formats, and choose Most Compatible to save new photos as JPG.
Why did one file fail?
The file may be damaged or use a HEIC variant the converter cannot decode. Try exporting it again from the Photos app as JPG.
