Compress an image to 200 KB

200 KB is a common limit for document scans, profile pictures and website uploads. This page is set to 200 KB, which leaves room to keep a photo looking good. Everything runs in your browser.

Drop images here, or click to choose

JPG, PNG or WebP. Up to 20 images. Nothing is uploaded.

The tool keeps the quality as high as it can while staying under your limit, and only makes the picture smaller if it has to. Transparent areas become white. Photo data such as GPS is not kept.

How it works

  1. Choose the largest size you are allowed (the buttons set common limits).
  2. Drop in your images. They are compressed one by one.
  3. Check the new size on each result and download it.

Plenty of room for quality

A 200 KB limit is enough for a clear photo at screen size. The tool usually only needs to lower the quality a little and rarely needs to shrink the pixels.

Good for scans of documents

Photographed or scanned pages, certificates and ID cards usually fit at 200 KB with the text still readable. Check that small print is still clear before you upload.

Use for email and chat

Smaller pictures send faster and take less data. This is a quick way to shrink a photo before attaching it.

Other limits

Use the size buttons to move to 10, 20, 50, 100 or 500 KB, or type any number.

Questions

Will it change the picture size in pixels?

Only if it has to. The result shows the final width and height.

Can I use WebP?

Yes, in the format list. It gives smaller files, but check that the website accepts WebP.

Does it work with PNG files?

Yes. They are converted to JPG or WebP, which can be compressed to a size limit.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. It never leaves your device.
