Toolstia / Add watermark to PDF

Add a text watermark to a PDF

A watermark tells readers what a document is: a draft, a copy for one person or something confidential. This tool writes your text onto every page of a PDF and saves a new file. Your original is not changed.

One PDF at a time. Nothing is uploaded.

The watermark is drawn on top of each page as text. Anyone with a PDF editor can remove it again, so it is a notice, not protection.

How it works

  1. Choose your PDF.
  2. Type the watermark text and set its size, angle, colour and opacity.
  3. Pick one in the centre or repeated across the page, then download.

Placement

One watermark in the centre suits a single clear word. Repeated placement covers the whole page in a staggered pattern and is harder to crop out.

Angle and opacity

A 45 degree angle is the classic look. Light opacity keeps the page readable underneath. Raise it if the mark is hard to see on a busy page.

Letters supported

The mark uses a built-in bold sans-serif font, so it supports Latin letters, digits and common symbols. Scripts such as Bangla or Arabic are not available and the tool tells you instead of printing broken boxes.

A notice, not protection

The text sits on top of the page and can be removed by someone with a PDF editor. For stronger protection against editing you need encryption, which this tool does not do.

Questions

Does it work on scanned PDFs?

Yes. The mark is drawn over whatever is on the page.

Can I add an image or logo?

Not in this tool. It adds text only.

Is anything uploaded?

No. Your PDF stays in your browser and is never sent anywhere.
