Add page numbers to a PDF

Stamp page numbers onto every page of a PDF. Pick where they go, how they look, which number to start at, and whether to leave the first page without one. Your PDF is not uploaded.

One PDF at a time. Nothing is uploaded.

Numbers are drawn on top of each page in dark grey. Keep your original in case you need a version without them.

How it works

  1. Drop in your PDF.
  2. Choose the style, position, start number and size.
  3. Press Add numbers and download.

Styles

You can number pages as plain 1, 2, 3, as "Page 1 of 9", or as "1 / 9". The total is worked out for you, including when you skip the cover or start from a different number.

Cover pages

Tick the box to leave the first page unnumbered. The second page then starts at your chosen number, so a document with a cover can begin its numbering at 1 on the next page.

Position and size

Choose any of six places, bottom centre being the most common. The margin keeps numbers away from the edge so they are not cut off when printed.

Good to know

The numbers are drawn on top of the pages, in dark grey. If the page already has content in that corner they can overlap, so choose another position in that case.

Questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The numbers are added in your browser.

Can I remove them afterwards?

No. Keep your original file.

Does it work with Bangla or other languages?

The numbers are plain digits, so yes. The rest of your page is untouched.

Can I number only some pages?

Not yet. You can split the PDF, number the part you want, and merge it back.
