Validate YAML

YAML breaks on a single wrong space. Paste your file here to learn at once whether it parses, and if not, on which line and column the problem is.

When the YAML is valid you also get the data as JSON, which shows how a parser really reads your file.

How it works

  1. Paste your YAML.
  2. Read the result: valid, or the error with its line and column.
  3. Copy the JSON version if it is useful.

Error location

The message from the parser is shown with the line and column and a copy of the offending line.

Tabs

YAML forbids tab characters for indentation. If the text contains tabs you get a warning, since they are a common hidden cause of errors.

Several documents

Files that contain more than one document separated by --- are accepted and shown as a JSON list.

Surprising values

Seeing the JSON output helps catch surprises, such as no turning into false in some parsers or a version number like 1.10 reading as a number.

Questions

Does valid YAML mean my config is right?

No. It only means the syntax is correct. Your application may still expect other keys.

Which YAML version?

The parser follows YAML 1.2 rules.

Is anything uploaded?

No. Your YAML stays in your browser and is never sent anywhere.
