Toolstia / text wrapper

Text wrapper

Break long lines at a set number of characters, such as 72 for plain-text email or 80 for code. You can also join text that was wrapped by hand back into normal paragraphs.

Blank lines are kept as paragraph breaks. A word longer than the width stays whole on its own line.

How it works

  1. Paste your text.
  2. Choose wrap or join, and set the width.
  3. Copy the result.

Wrapping

Lines break at a space before the width is exceeded, so words are never split.

Paragraphs

Blank lines are kept as paragraph breaks. You can wrap each line on its own instead of joining the lines of a paragraph first.

Joining lines

Unwrapping removes the single line breaks inside each paragraph, which fixes text copied from a PDF or an old email.

Long words

A word or web address longer than the width stays whole on its own line.

Questions

What width should I use?

Plain-text email is usually 72 characters, and code often uses 80 or 100.

Does it keep indentation?

No. Lines are rebuilt from words, so leading spaces are not kept.

Is my text uploaded?

Everything happens in your browser, and nothing you paste is sent anywhere.
