Toolstia / Image cropper

Crop an image

Drag a crop box over your picture, pick a ratio such as 1:1, 4:5 or 16:9, and download the cropped result. The image stays in your browser and is not uploaded.

Drop an image here, or click to choose

JPG, PNG or WebP. One image at a time. Nothing is uploaded.

The cropped copy keeps the original pixels, with no resizing, and is rebuilt without photo metadata such as GPS.

How it works

  1. Drop in one JPG, PNG or WebP image.
  2. Choose an aspect ratio, or leave it on Free. Drag the box to move it and drag a corner to resize.
  3. Press Crop and download.

Ratios for common uses

1:1 suits profile pictures and square posts. 4:5 is the tallest portrait shape for an Instagram feed post. 9:16 fits Stories, Reels and TikTok. 16:9 is the YouTube thumbnail and video shape. 2:3 is a standard Pinterest pin. 7:9 matches a 35 x 45 mm passport photo.

No loss from resizing

The tool cuts out the part you chose at the original pixel size. It does not scale the picture, so the crop is as sharp as your source. JPEG output is saved at high quality.

Using the keyboard

Focus the crop box and use the arrow keys to nudge it by one pixel, or hold Shift to move by ten.

Metadata

The cropped file is rebuilt from the pixels, so photo data such as GPS location is not copied into it.

Questions

Is my image uploaded?

No. Everything happens on your device.

Can I crop several images at once?

Not yet. This tool handles one image at a time so you can place each crop by hand.

How do I get an exact pixel size?

Crop to the ratio you need first, then use the image resizer to set the exact width and height.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Drag with one finger. The corner handles are large enough for touch.
